Second Act, Second Career
When you reach your 50’s you may be thinking about a second career.
You may be seeking a different way of working – perhaps a new role, perhaps living your values. A second career or encore career is an opportunity to live and work differently.
Your current way of working may leave a lot to be desired and you may find yourself yearning to have a purpose. Some business leaders and professionals have found that they want to leave the world in a better place.
Your second career could last 20 – 30 years so do some investigating and choose wisely. It may be that you earn less but have a job that is more enjoyable and meaningful.
You can get excited about work, learn new skills and contribute positively to the workforce. With your knowledge and experience you have a lot to offer across the intergenerational workforce.
Anita Hoffman, a former executive says, “The secret is to realise that living more frugally and consuming less is enjoyable if you find a job you care about.”
Consider how much income you need and how you can make changes to your lifestyle.
What would make you happy?
